WHY: President Johnsen will answer questions about the outcome of today’s override vote and the immediate next steps for the university.

BACKGROUND: The University of Alaska relies on public and private funding. In FY19, $327 million of the university's budget came from the state appropriation. After vetoes, the state's funding dropped to $192 million in FY20. Since 2014, the state’s contribution to the University of Alaska’s budget has declined from $378 million. Budget cuts have reduced the university’s service to the state, impacted its reputation and targeted the affordability for students.
