Fate is the son of Dr. Hugh B. Fate, Sr. and Mrs. Erma Lee Morris. Father was an ear, nose, and throat specialist who first came to Point Barrow with the U.S. Navy Project Pet 4, then moved to Fairbanks in 1951 and stayed there in medical practice until 1959 when he moved to Mt. Shasta, California. 1952-1954 -Served in the U.S. Armed Forces 1954 -Married Miss Mary Jane Evans, a part Athapaskan Indian, had three daughters-Janine, Jennifer, and Julie 1954-1957 -Student at the U. of A. 1958 -B.S. Degree from University of Oregon 1962 -D.M.D. degree from the University of Oregon 1962 -Returned to Fairbanks and opened a dental office 1969-1977 -Member of the Board of Regents, appointed by Gov. Miller 1969 -President of the Alaska Dental Society
