The University of Alaska’s “Momentum” campaign---a statewide print, radio and television advertising campaign--recently won three awards in a national advertising competition.
The 20th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition presented UA with Gold awards in two categories: television advertising series, for all three Momentum TV commercials; and single spot, for the commercial featuring business partnerships.
In addition, UA won a Silver award for its total “Momentum” advertising campaign and garnered a Merit award for its booklet, “Where Do You Think You’re Going?” aimed at urging 9th graders to consider attending college.
The university’s advertising campaign, designed by Nerland Agency of Anchorage, earned the awards in the category for schools with 20,000 or more students. UA has roughly 34,000 full- and part-time students enrolled statewide. The 20th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards Competition is sponsored by the Admissions Marketing Report of Atlanta.
The university’s advertising campaign is possible thanks to a $500,000 grant from the University of Alaska Foundation, a private, non-profit corporation that solicits, manages and invests donations for the exclusive benefit of UA.
“We’re extremely proud that our advertising campaign has caught such national attention,” said UA’s Vice President for University Relations Wendy Redman. “We couldn’t have done it without the support from the Foundation.”
