University of Alaska Regents to Meet in Anchorage - Chancellors Lind and Gorsuch to be honored for their service

Regents of the University of Alaska» will meet Wednesday and Thursday, June 9-10, in the Consortium Library» on the UAA campus in Anchorage.

The two-day session will begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. with the full board in an executive session to discuss matters of litigation, labor relations and real estate for about an hour. Public testimony will be heard from 9:30am-10:30am Wednesday morning after which the full board will continue with action and information items including the UAA Campus Master Plan presentation.

Chancellors Lind and Gorsuch to retire at end of June

Marshall Lind has spent the last five years as the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ fourth Chancellor– previously he had been chancellor of the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau since 1987. Lind served as Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Education from 1971 to 1983, and again from 1985 to 1987.

UAA Chancellor Edward Lee Gorsuch, a 28-year veteran of the University of Alaska system, has been with the university since 1976. He has served as director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research, dean of the School of Public Affairs, and has been chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage since 1994.

Board members will host a dinner honoring the chancellors Wednesday evening at the UAA Cuddy Dining Room.
