Regents Will Meet June 1 to Select New President
The Board of Regents of the University of Alaska will hold a special meeting Monday, June 1, in Anchorage to select a new president of the university.
The meeting will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the chancellor's conference room in the administration building on the UAA campus in Anchorage. Most of the meeting will be held in executive session.
The finalists for the presidency are Mark R. Hamilton, a U. S. Army major general who is now in charge of the U. S. Army Recruiting Center at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Dr. David L. Toppen, who is executive vice president and provost of Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. The candidates and their spouses visited Alaska May 19-22 for campus visits.
The annual meeting of the Board of Regents is scheduled for Wednesday through Friday,
June 17-19, at the Butrovich Building on the UAF campus in Fairbanks. The committee
and board agendas will be announced prior to the meeting.
