Regents' Meeting
March 12, 1997 NR 4-1997
The University of Alaska Board of Regents will hold a special meeting on Thursday, March 27, in Anchorage to discuss possible acquisition of patented mining claims at Brady Glacier in Southeast Alaska.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the regents taking public comment in the Campus Center Cafeteria at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Discussion about the university's acquisition of the mining claims will take place in an executive session, but any action by the board will be done in public session.
Brady Glacier, which sits atop one of the largest nickel deposits in the United States, is located about 12 miles north of Dixon Harbor on the western boundary of Glacier Bay National Park.
The special meeting originally was scheduled for March 10 as an audioconference, but
was rescheduled to enable the regents to meet in a face-to-face session and to give
adequate time for public comment.
