UA Board of Regents to address the future of UAA’s School of Education, FY20 state funding at special meeting April 8
WHO: University of Alaska Board of Regents.
WHAT: A special board meeting to hear the findings of an expedited program review of UAA’s School of Education, consider a recommendation to discontinue the initial licensure programs at UAA and to discuss the university's budget.
WHEN: 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8.

ACCREDITATION BACKGROUND: During its regular meeting Feb. 28/March 1, the board directed President Jim Johnsen and university administration to conduct an expedited program review of UAA’s School of Education programs. As part of that review, options were presented by the chancellors of UAA, UAF and UAS for delivering those programs and the opinion of the General Counsel was sought regarding the associated legal risks. The administration has been dedicated to finding a certain path to licensure for UAA education students.
