University of Alaska president, chancellors to discuss UA Title IX agreement

Today, University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen announced to employees and students that he has signed an agreement that is the culmination of a three-year federal review of Title IX practices throughout the UA system.

In May of 2014, the University of Alaska was notified that it would undergo a compliance review by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. The university’s voluntary resolution agreement with the OCR and Johnsen’s message to the university community can be accessed online at: www.alaska.edu/titleIXcompliance. Individual campus messages are also available at the links below.

Johnsen, chancellors Dana Thomas, Rick Caulfield and Tom Case, Regents Gloria O’Neill and John Davies, and experts from each university will be available to answer media questions during a press briefing at noon Alaska time (4 p.m. Eastern) at locations in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau and via audioconference.
