Board of Regents Meeting Will Focus on Budget and Strategic Pathways Discussions
FAIRBANKS – University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen will outline details for implementing the Strategic Pathways expedited review when the Board of Regents convenes June 2-3 in Anchorage. On Thursday, regents also will review and vote to approve the university’s $335 million FY17 budget now that the legislature has agreed on a state budget.
The meeting will be held at the Lee Gorsuch Commons on the UAA campus. Public testimony will be from 9:15-10:15 a.m. Thursday, June 2 and 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 3.
On Friday, regents will hear from Susan Bell with the McDowell Group on the results of a privately funded public opinion survey focused on public attitudes toward the university and the impacts of the university on the state's economy. Also to be discussed is an update on student achievement and attainment. The afternoon will include a presentation on how the pre-college Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP) helps eliminate the need for remedial coursework for participants when students enter the university, and a review of the university Title IX scorecard.
