2020-2022 Representatives

Since joining the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2015, I have worked in a variety of Human Resources roles at the campus level, and most recently transitioned to the UA Human Resources team.  The University has played a significant role in my life both academically and professionally.  Prior to working at the University, I earned my M.Ed. at UAF and went on to teach in the Fairbanks community.  While teaching, I was elected as a Fairbanks Education Association Representative which allowed me to serve and advocate for a diverse group of constituencies in the educationcommunity.  This was an extremely valuable professional experience in many ways, the most rewarding of which was giving voice to all the stakeholders' concerns, priorities, and values.  I am excited for the opportunity to serve the University community in a similar capacity as a Statewide Administration Assembly Representative, and I will work diligently to represent all of the hard working staff and my fellow Statewide colleagues.

When I'm not in the "office," you will find me spending time with my husband, chasing after our two daughters (ages 3 and 5) and our Borderdoodle, Quincy.  I love being outdoors, fiddling in the garden, cooking, and traveling to new places (wherever they are).

Kelley Lassey joined Statewide Human Resources in July 2018 and currently works with the UA HR Labor and Employee Engagement team. Prior to joining the university she was a mediation intern for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Lassey was born in Washington, D.C., but moved to Fairbanks in the late 80's. She attended Dixie State University in Saint George, Utah.

She is married and has three children. Her favorite hobby is traveling the world with her family.

I moved to Alaska in 1981 with my husband, who was stationed at Elmendorf AFB.  After his stint with the military, we decided that Alaska was our home. We raised three daughters here, all of whom have stayed in Alaska. We are also blessed to have six grandchildren around us as well with the oldest grandson who just enlisted in the Army. We have lived in several different places over the last 38 years and have found Fairbanks to be our home.

I started working for the University of Alaska in 2007 working as a Fiscal Technician 3 for the SW Controller's office. After four years, I transition to Financial Systems as a Systems Coordinator, serving as Property Coordinator for SW as well as Accounts Receivable Coordinator. I am currently working with UA Data Strategy and Institutional Research where I am a Research Professional. I look forward to many more years working for the University of Alaska.

While originally from Holloman AFB., New Mexico my family was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in 1995 and we fell in love with all the adventures and beauty of Alaska. The majority of my childhood was spent fishing throughout Alaska with my dad and being highly involved in athletics. After graduating from Chugiak Highschool, I attended the University of Alaska, Anchorage and graduated with a BBA in Management. Since then my husband and I have owned small businesses, traveled, and I currently coach volleyball in the Eagle River area.

I’ve been with the UA Land Management team since February 2020 and support our teams’ mission through managing our office, working with our team on developing/updating our web presence, encouraging open communication, and looking forward to helping our office innovate. When I recently learned about the Statewide Administration Assembly I was excited that this program existed to allow our staff a voice to provide feedback, plan community outreach, and organize events. I would be excited to serve our UA Statewide community.

I grew up in Fairbanks and attended UAF for my undergrad and masters degrees in Business Administration and Finance respectively. I began my career at UAF in 2012 as an Accounting Intern and became full time staff in 2013 with the Division of Design and Construction as their Fiscal Technician. In 2017 I had the opportunity to join the Department of Strategy, Planning and Budget at Statewide and have thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

I have been interested in learning more about Statewide's staff needs since I came on board, but now more than ever seems like a good time to get involved and help where possible. Additionally, getting to know more people within Statewide would be a great benefit to serving on SAA.

Thank you for your consideration!
2020-2021 Alternates

Ayden Harris graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2012, and joined the Statewide Academics, Students and Research Office in October, 2019 as the Travel and Procurement Coordinator. Prior to working at Statewide, he worked with the College of Engineering and Mines and the Division of Design and Construction, and as a student worked with Residence Services as an Assistant Apartment Manager with Family Housing, all on the Fairbanks campus.  He is currently working toward a Certified Public Procurement Buyers certification.

Ayden’s family moved to Alaska with the Air Force from warm and sunny Southern California in November 28th, 1999, and he has spent the majority of his life since in the state. After graduating in 2012, he lived overseas in Osaka, Japan for four years and worked as a language instructor for a private school where he taught all levels of English from pre-school ABCs, to college English, to Professional English for international business. He returned to Alaska in December of 2015. In his spare time, Ayden enjoys writing and has completed 3 novels and several short stories.

I recently moved to Alaska in October 2019 and immediately fell in love with Fairbanks. There is a great sense of community and pride across the University of Alaska that seems to be contagious. It is so encouraging when everyone you meet has worked for the university for a very long time. It shows it's a great place to be. I love spending time outdoors with my family. While it was hard to convince my toddlers that the snow can be fun at -30, they are easily convinced that sleeping under the midnight sun, in a tent, is one of the best things for the soul.

I have only worked at UA for about 6 months and I am still very much in the learning phase. I think our time spent at work should be as enjoyable as possible. We spend most of our lives with our co-workers so we should have the best work environment. I don't believe in re-inventing the wheel when a problem arises but instead leaning on other departments/associates to find the best solution. I would love to be part of SAA and help make those small changes to create the best workplace for every employee.

Thank you for participating in the 2020 SAA election.
