OIT Recommends a Refresh!
Oct. 29, 2021
Around the first snowfall is an excellent time to spruce up your personal information for the directory, update email signatures and review certain office procedures, and you’ll be all set for a productive work winter. OIT suggests taking a few minutes to update your personal information in UA Online, review certain phone procedures, jazz up your email signature, and install any current software updates. Below is a detailed to-do list:
- UA Online self service updates
Login to UA Online and review your personal information under the Personal Information tab, upper left. Make any necessary updates, select Confirm in each area, before logging out. This will update the online directory information, too. - Phone updates
Refresh your memory on how to transfer your office phone to a remote location, review how to check your voicemail when away from your desk, then remember to change any 4-digit extensions to 10-digit extensions before October 24 of this year. - Email updates
Consider personalizing your emails by adding a signature or updating your existing email signature with current contact information, department URLs, virtual office hours and consider adding inspiring quotes or other touches that reflect you and your department . This is the perfect opportunity to update phone numbers in your signature to be the full 10-digits to accommodate the dialing change in Alaska. - Software and password updates
Review security best practices and consider updating passwords. Update your Zoom client software before November and consider scheduling reminders to check for updates of software that you use often.
After tackling these tasks, take a minute to grab a warm beverage from Arctic Java and settle into your early winter workday, knowing that you’re all set for the change
of season!
