UAA Administration Updates

UAA - Message from the Chancellor

 Dear UA Community,

Today, I am sharing important news regarding UAA's Administrative Services division. I accepted Beverly Shuford's resignation as vice chancellor for Administrative Services, effective June 1, 2020, and have designed a plan for management of the Administrative Services units, the details of which are included below.

Bill Jacob will join the UAA leadership team as interim vice chancellor for Administrative Services for one year beginning June 1, 2020. Bill joins UAA from Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC), where he served as corporate chief information officer since 2013. Bill's prior experience also includes leadership roles at Honeywell Aerospace in Arizona and Cessna Aircraft in Kansas. Bill's proven leadership experience across multiple units in large organizations will serve UAA well as he assumes management of UAA's Budget, Financial Services, Facilities & Campus Services and Information Technology units.

Beginning June 1, the following auxiliary units will report to a new division within UAA's Student Affairs organization: Bookstore, Parking Services, General Support Services (including the mailroom and printing services) and Alaska Airlines Center Event Management. Additionally, University Police Department Chief Jeff Earle will temporarily report to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. Director of Athletics Greg Myford will report directly to me during FY21.

These transitions are all effective June 1. We will assess the efficacy of this new management structure and the potential for recruitment of the next regular vice chancellor for Administrative Services in spring 2021.

Please join me in welcoming Bill Jacob as interim vice chancellor for Administrative Services and in thanking Beverly for two years of service to UAA.

Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
