November System Office Staff Council meeting highlights

The System Office Staff Council held a regular business meeting on Monday November 8th. Below are highlights from the meeting:
- Love decorating for the holidays? Join our gingerbread house or office decorating competition! Once you've created your gingerbread house or decorated your office space (whether that's at home or on campus), submit a photo (or a few) of your creation here by Dec. 15th (next Wednesday).
- SOSC is hosting a virtual gathering on Wednesday December 15th at 1:00pm where we'll award prizes for holiday decorating competition, play some virtual games, and see each other’s faces before the holiday break. Please join us!
- Glenn Gambrell, HR Director of Talent and Acquisition, attended the meeting to discuss possible future efforts related to staff compensation cited in President Pitney’s response to Staff Alliance's FY23 Compensation Memo
- Staff Development Fund - A subcommittee is continuing work on several speaker options and gathering cost info. Council members also discussed the possibility of working with the other three staff councils to coordinate a systemwide development day.
- Post-COVID Workplace Project - The Transition Monitoring Team had their last meeting on Nov. 15th. There will be follow-up meetings next year to check in on how things are going with the implementation of the new regulations. Committee members gave feedback on how the project went for a final report.
- Council members heard a report on Staff Alliance activities:
- Staff Alliance discussed the idea of a staff ombuds, the possibility of a shared systemwide staff development day, and suggested changes and updates to the Staff Alliance constitution and bylaws.
- Morale committee - Members of the morale committee have been working on presenting the results of the morale survey in a visual format, and are planning to make this available to all staff when it is completed.
- Ad-hoc committee on shared governance - This committee is continuing to meet and discuss ways to improve shared governance.
