UA News Resources
In order to expand the delivery of timely system news to all University of Alaska
employees, the Statewide Voice was discontinued, and we transitioned to the new UA News Center with a system-wide audience. The new site compiles news and announcements internal
to the university. Stories are categorized into featured news, human resources, IT
announcements and personnel news. The site also archives external media coverage, connects to the Capitol Report, campus news and other media resources, is home to
the new “On Topic with Jim Johnsen” video and podcast series, and connects to emergency notifications. A round-up of
new stories is distributed on the first and third Fridays of each month. News can
be contributed from anyone in the UA System. Submissions of stories with system-wide
significance can be submitted using this form, or by emailing Leona Long.
A second newsletter, the Statewide Bulletin, features Statewide staff transition news
and events, announcements and other content that used to be included in the Voice,
but is not necessarily relevant to the entire system. The site, part of the UA System
website redesign, also contains resources for Statewide staff, the President’s Spotlight
Award, connects to the Statewide Administrative Assembly, the Statewide Directory
and system news releases. The SW Bulletin will be released the final Friday of each
