Re: COVID-19 Related Leave Updates
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 allowed the university to extend the COVID-related benefits for Emergency Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave through September 30, 2021. Since the Federal government did not extend the use of these leave types, the Emergency Sick Leave and Expanded Family and Medical Leave is no longer available for use after September 30.
The University recognizes the need to support employees in their efforts to get vaccinated against COVID-19. In light of this, all employees still may use COVID-19 Administrative Leave (code 467) to receive a COVID vaccine. Use of this leave requires supervisor approval. Temporary and student employees will need to submit a paper timesheet to use. All other leave types, including sick leave or annual leave, should be used in accordance with Board of Regents Policy and University Regulation (04.06) for leave-eligible employees. For more information regarding leave options related to COVID please review the leave FAQs on the university’s coronavirus information site.
If Federal or State guidance changes, the university will consider updates at that time. Please contact UA Human Resources if you have questions (ua-hr@alaska.edu, 907-450-8200).
