UA Scholars Receptions

Recognizing new UA Scholars

Each year the new cohort of UA Scholars are invited to a reception where they can learn more about the University of Alaska system and have the opportunity to receive individual recognition from, and a portrait with, the UA president and UAA, UAS or UAF chancellor.

Anchorage

November 12, 2012

UAA Chancellor Tom Case speaks with the 2013 UA Scholars before the reception in Anchorage.

President Gamble addresss UA Scholars about the many opportunities for cutting edge research and education at the university and the important role the scholars play in the future of Alaska.
Scholars and their families enjoy light refreshments after the formal portion of the reception.
Representatives from UAF, UAA and UAS departments, services and programs meet with scholars and their parents following the formal program.

Juneau

November 13, 2012

Fairbanks

November 15, 2012

Vice Chancellor Mike Sfraiga emceed the Fairbanks UA Scholar Reception.
Current UA Scholars Shaun Nesheim and Teal Rogers talk about the many opportunities and activities available at UAF and through study abroad programs and encourage the scholars to take advantage of the scholarship opportunity and attend UA.
Teal Rogers is a student ambassador at UAF and UA Scholar.
Chancellor Rogers addresses the UA Scholars and their families encouraging them to attend UA, and in particular UAF.
President Gamble emphasied Alaska's role in many major issues of our time including climate research, energy, engineering and encouraged the Scholars to attend UA and become leaders in these important fields.
As at the other schools the president and chancellor waited to great and congratulate each scholar and pose for a picture together.
Each UA Scholar had the opportunity to be individually recognized and congratulated on their achievement.
