North Pole Winter Festival

Fireworks, holiday bazaar, tree and candle lighting ceremonies, caroling, and crowning of the North Pole King and Queen.

Christmas in Ice
Dec. 1 to Jan. 6
A magical event in North Pole with Christmas-themed ice sculptures by local and international sculptors and a kids park made of snow and ice. There will also be a picnic, a Military Appreciation Day, Santa, a Christmas train, and the New Year's Eve Snowflake Drop throughout the Christmas in Ice festival.�

Annual Yukon Quest Beer and Wine Tasting Auction Fundraiser

Come to our Annual Beer and Wine Tasting Auction Fundraiser. There will be a silent and outcry auction, with hundreds of items donated by local businesses and individuals. Also, Alaskan Brewing and Co. and K&L Distributors will bring hundreds of wines and beers for you to sample, while you listen to the folksy sound of Lost Dawg. You will be served hors d'oeuvres by Yukon Quest mushers all decked out in tuxes so you can eat, shop, and be merry! Age Suitability: 21 and Up

29th Annual Native Peoples Bazaar

Alaska Native Medical Center
Collector's table, masks, baskets, dance fans, ivory, whalebone carvings, slippers, jewelry, ornaments, dolls and entertainment. Look for the treasure tables too. Donations of collectible art and artifacts, made to the ANMC Auxiliary to benefit the Native Scholarship Fund, will be sold in conjunction with the bazaar.

Smithsonian Spotlight: Documenting Yup'ik Traditional Knowledge

Calista Elders Council Director Mark John, Yup’ik translator Alice Rearden and anthropologist Ann Fienup-Riordan discuss their decade-long documentation of Yup’ik traditional knowledge. They also share and discuss the council’s four most recent books: Ellavut/Our Yup’ik World and Weather, Our Nelson Island Stories, Yupiit Yuraryarait/Yup’ik Ways of Dancing and Mission of Change. A book signing follows.

A Christmas Carol

Charles Dickens' classic "A Christmas Carol" has gripped the public's imagination since 1843. It is as much a part of the holiday season as mistletoe or stockings. Alaska Theatre of Youth brings back Scrooge, Tiny Tim, and all of your favorite characters in this traditional re-telling. Come along as the spirits take the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on a journey where he learns the true meaning of Christmas.

Eagle River Commons
Downtown Eagle River Commons is the site for the annual tree lighting and features the elementary school choirs. Santa and a team of his eight real reindeer visit the event. Free horse-drawn sleigh rides along with lots of giveaway treats and fun. Share in the spirit of the season with donations of food to the E.R. Food Pantry and donations of gifts to families in need through the Sleeping Lady Lions. Just bring your canned goods or unwrapped gifts to the event!
