  • Steve Patin to lead Human Resources at the University of Alaska

    University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen announced today that Steven J. Patin has been named Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for the university and will assume his new position on Oct. 25. Patin, who succeeds Keli Hite-McGee, currently is vice president at Alaska Communications overseeing all aspects of the company's customer service functions. He leads the field operations, information technology, and the corporate program management teams.

  • Peter Stortz named to 4-H Hall of Fame

    Retired Palmer 4-H agent Peter Stortz will be inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame on Oct. 11, becoming the sixth Alaskan to receive that honor. The Hall of Fame recognizes 4-H volunteers, Cooperative Extension Service professionals, staff and others who made a significant impact on the 4-H youth program at the local, state or national level.

    Stephen Jewett wins diving lifetime achievement award

    Stephen C. Jewett will receive the 2019 American Academy of Underwater Sciences Scientific Diving Lifetime Achievement award. Jewett is a research professor emeritus at the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. He retired in 2015 after 42 years of service.
