University of Alaska Board of Regents appoints Pat Pitney as University of Alaska System president

The University of Alaska Board of Regents voted at its Feb. 25 meeting to appoint Pat Pitney as the UA System's 17th president, removing "interim" from her title. The decision was unanimous, highlighting the board's recognition of President Pitney's leadership and contribution to the UA System.

IASC Medal 2022 Awarded to UAA Professor Dalee Sambo Dorough

The International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) awards the 2022 IASC Medal to Professor Dalee Sambo Dorough, University of Alaska Anchorage and Chair of the Inuit Circumpolar Council, for outstanding achievements in advocacy for the rights of Indigenous peoples, her service to a wide range of arctic communities, including the Arctic Council, and her influence as a legal scholar.
