Mentor Biography
Sandi Immel-Boyd
2013-2022
Sandi graduated with a BA in Social Work from West Chester State College and a MEd
in Special Education from Penn State University. After teaching for 5 years in Idaho,
she began her Alaskan adventure on the North Slope of Alaska in the village of Wainwright.
Three years later, she moved to Anchorage where she taught and served the district
in multiple capacities until 2013 when she joined the Alaska Statewide Mentoring Project.
After mentoring in Anchorage for four years, she began traveling to rural Alaska,
meeting and working with beginning teachers there.
“It is my belief that through effective mentoring, both student achievement and teacher retention can be influenced in a positive way. I am honored to be part of the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project where the needs of students and teachers in Alaska are our priority.”
