A graduate of the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, Matt's area of interest and expertise is special needs students, with an emphasis on struggling readers. Matt has had experience as a technical consultant for junior and senior high students in Circle and as an elementary teacher in Tuluksak. In Fairbanks, Matt worked for one year at the Residential Diagnostic Treatment Center with 5th through 12th graders, and for two years at the Youth Education and Support Services (YESS) Elementary School.

"As a teacher, I enjoy helping students prepare for the future so that they have the opportunity to pursue their goals in life. During this year of mentoring, I'm looking forward to working with beginning teachers who come from a variety of backgrounds and are working in new and unique environments."
