Mentor Biography
Marilee Nufer
2019-2022
Marilee considers herself to be very blessed and to have had a variety of professional experiences and training. She graduated from what is now Concordia University in Portland, OR, with a teaching degree and a minor in languages. After graduating she taught preschool for a year, then moved to Alaska with her husband and taught 1st through 4th grades, including several multi-age classrooms. She was a Title I reading teacher and the district assessment coordinator for the first state-wide Alaska SBA and HSQE assessments. In order to better meet the needs of her English Language learners, Marilee completed her ELL certification and Masters at UAA. Marilee spent her last 11 years as an instructional coach, all in the Matanuska-Susitna School District. She has enjoyed the challenge of working with adults as well as children and is eager to team up with new teachers around the state as they begin this amazing adventure we call teaching.
