Lorrie Scoles was a founder and the Director of the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project 2004-2008. As such, she was responsible for hiring, training, coaching and supporting the mentors. She was the Mentor's Mentor.

Previous employment includes working for the Fairbanks School District as a teacher, a mentor, and a staff development coordinator. She has also been a presenter at many educational conferences and workshops.

About her job she says, "It is an honor to be able to work with school districts, the University of Alaska and the Department of Education & Early Development to guide and support our beginning teachers in their first years in the profession. The professionals in our office and the mentors out in the field work as an incredible team with a 'can do' attitude to bring a solid, research-based system of support to beginning teachers across Alaska. The success of this effort is because of their commitment to teachers. It is a pleasure to be part of this team."
