Mentor Biography
John Luck
After receiving an undergraduate degree from the University of Washington, I earned my teaching certification (Special Education) from Western Washington University and began my teaching career in a small rural school in Western Washington, where I taught for 12 years. During that time I continued with classes and earned an M.Ed. in Special Education, again from the University of Washington. Later, after moving to Alaska, I received my administrative certification from UAF. My 20 years in Alaska have been spent teaching Special Education, regular education, and as an administrator— all in grades K-12. I have taught in rural and urban districts across the state. For me, the most exciting part of teaching is helping students find and explore their interests and passions. I like to build on that enthusiasm to teach skills and help students create products to be shared with others. My wife (married 42 years) and I have 2 grown children and enjoy biking, reading, and traveling.
