2022 to Present
I am a third generation Alaskan and have a deep love for our state and its people.
When the youngest of our four children entered kindergarten, I returned to school
to complete my teaching degree. I graduated from UAA with a K-8 certification and
continued on at the University of Connecticut with a MA in Educational Psychology/Gifted
Education. I have enjoyed a variety of teaching experiences, from teaching highly
gifted students to working for ASD in STEM education to Title 1 teaching and f inally,
helping to launch Anchorage’s first STEM elementary school. Every experience has
broadened my understanding of teaching and learning. I look forward to sharing that
with beginning teachers in the coming years while also learning from them. In my
free time, I love hiking, biking, travel, and spending time with my three grandchildren.
