Mentor Biography
Bobbie Wicks
I've known since Junior High-School that I wanted to be a teacher and have never regretted my decision to go into the field of education. In my 28 years of teaching I have taught primary grades K-3. I have always had a keen interest in the language arts and find it very gratifying to help my students become "joyfully literate"! I have taught 26 of my 28 years in Fairbanks at Nordale Elementary. It will be hard to leave the wonderful kids, parents and staff of our community, but I am looking forward to mentoring as a wonderful adventure into new communities. I am eager to share in the successes and challenges that new teachers meet every day. And if I help even one teacher become a better teacher I will also help every child he/she teaches.
"I appreciate the opportunity to use my years of experience and training to work with beginning teachers to make a difference for kids." "Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself." ~John Dewey
