Martha Mason Appointed OIT User Services Executive Director/CIO

Executive Director of User Services/CIO

Martha�Mason was announced on August 20 as Executive Director of User Services/CIO for the Office of Information Technology. Mason has been serving in this position as interim since May 2011. OIT User Services is the front line group working directly with students, faculty and staff to assist with technology needs and provide help desk assistance, training and desktop support. Mason has been the Manager of the OIT Support Center, since 2006.She came to the University in 1995 as a software engineer for the Alaska Satellite Facility, and continues to enjoy the Fairbanks community.Mason earned a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina and has called Alaska her home since 1983.

Bawcom New Admin Specialist for Student and Enrollment Services

Administrative Specialist

Dustin Bawcom is the new administrative specialist for the Student and Enrollment Services office. His responsibilities include data analysis, tracking office financial transactions, coordinating travel and even arrangements and general office operations. Bawcom started the position on Aug. 27. �

Bawcom served as a student worker for the department since the fall of 2005. He was born in Florida and moved to Fairbanks in 2005. He received his formal education from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and received his bachelor’s degree in Japanese studies.

Bawcom’s favorite activities include walks on the beach, reading by the fireplace and sneaking in jokes when his friends don’t expect them.

Coon Appointed as Support Center Manager for the Office of Information Technology

OIT Support Center Manager

Kenny Coon was announced as the support center manager for the Office of Information Technology on Sept. 16. Kenny has been serving in the position as interim manager since May of 2011. Kenny has 11 years invested with the OIT Support Center and has developed strong leadership skills and become an expert in the field of IT support and service management.�

While not at work, Kenny enjoys spending time outdoors fishing, hiking and spending time with his family especially chasing after his two very energetic daughters. �

McKay Joins UA Foundation

Student Assistant

Anna Mckay is the newest student assistant for UA Foundation. She is a general assistant for Tami Choquette, a data analyst and fund processor/manager. McKay started her new position on Sept. 11. �

Previously, McKay served as a personal assistant at New York Life and Reception, as well as an administrative assistant for Foley & Foley, P.C.

McKay was born in New Zealand and moved to Alaska in 2007 at the age of 7. She grew up in Turnagain and went to West High.

She lives with her boyfriend of three years. McKay loves to be outdoors in the sun. She has been involved in many different sports including volleyball, softball and flag football in high school, and she continues to occasionally play on recreational teams.
