Farewell to Steve Smith
Steve Smith, formerly Chief Information Technology Officer, has left Alaska for a similar position at the University of Hawaii. A farewell reception for Smith was held in the Board of Regents' conference room on May 18. We wish him the best in his new position!

Michelle Publicover is the newest edition to the UA Foundation offices in Anchorage. Publicover is now responsible for marketing the Alaska Education Tax Credit to potential corporate & foundation donors.�
Prior to this position, Publicover was Community Relations Lead for Fidelity investments in Smithfield, RI.
It is not her first time in Alaska. She was born in Anchorage, but raised primarily in New Hampshire.� She attended Eastern Connecticut University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications.�
Publicover moved back to Alaska in May 2011 to begin this position at the UA Foundation. She is excited to be in Alaska, and is looking forward to exploring the state and meeting new people.
Syrilyn Tong

Syrily Tong is assisting with training C-CERT (Campus Community Emergency Response Team) members, and with training UAF administration on Emergency Management duties and responsibilities. Tong is also assisting with the development and implementation of mock exercises and training scenarios
She came to statewide from the UAF police Department� where she worked in crime prevention
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, Tong, a self-described military brat, grew up all over. She has been in Fairbanks since 1984.
She attended college at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology.� She also received training in police management at the FBI National Academy.
Tong has spent 14 years with her partner Kathy. She enjoys traveling, animal watching, playing music and scrapbooking.
