Power Conservation at UAF

Facilities Services Utilities Division will be shutting down the turbines for cleaning from April 23 through May 23, 2009. During those 30 days the campus will be relying solely on GVEA for power. UA's Emergency Manager completes Homeland Security Course

On Thursday April 23 Ron Swartz, Emergency Manager for the UAA campuses, graduated from training at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The U.S. Department Homeland Security course, “Discussion-based Exercise Design & Evaluation”, taught attendees how to create, execute, and review tabletop disaster exercises. There were about 55 emergency preparedness professionals from across the country in the class. Presented as part of the Emergency Management Institute, the course was one of three Swartz will complete as part of certification as a Master Exercise Practitioner. Travel & registration funding was provided by Homeland Security.
