University Foundation appeals to donors for scholarship fund support
July 19, 2019
The UA Foundation launched a campaign Monday, July 15 to help offset the loss of $15 million in state funding for the Alaska Education Grant, Alaska Performance Scholarship, and the WWAMI Medical Education Loan Program. Donations to support scholarship scholarships may be made online or by texting AKScholarships to 41444.

KUAC FM off the air for upgrades July 22-28

KUAC FM will be off the air for about a week, beginning the afternoon of July 22, to install a new transmitter and antenna on Ester Dome. The work will increase the public radio station's reliability and on-air consistency.

The Board of Regents postponed a vote on a declaration of financial exigency and options for restructuring the University of Alaska during its special meeting July 15.

This morning I learned from a key legislative leader that the vote to override the governor's vetoes is set for Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. This vote will have a major impact on the university's future. If legislators do not override, the governor's $130 million cut to the legislature's budget for the university will leave us no option but to consider a declaration of financial exigency.

Survey shows a majority of Alaskans support the Legislature's budget for UA

Fifty-Nine (59) percent of Alaskans who participated in a privately-funded survey said they would support their legislator in an override vote of the recent veto of the legislature’s budget for the University of Alaska. Just 16 percent say they would ask their legislator not to override the veto while the remainder were undecided.
