As spring break approaches, I want to provide an update on the university's response to the novel coronavirus situation and to share additional guidance on international travel. There are currently no confirmed or suspected cases in Alaska. However, the number of cases of COVID19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, continues to increase worldwide.

UAF awarded Military Friendly bronze status

UAF was recently recognized as a Military Friendly Bronze school. The designation puts UAF in the top 30% of Military Friendly colleges across the country. UAF has been a Military Friendly school since 2010 and strives to continually improve service to military and veteran students and families.

All three chancellors provided updates on recent accomplishments, awards and activities at their universities, and President Johnsen offered a positive look at the future of the university and its vision for 2040.

I am hopeful that our communities will remain largely unaffected by COVID-19. That said, Universities have students and employees who travel around the world, and as noted in the Facts and Resources section below, COVID-19 continues to spread, though so far, not to Alaska.
