Changes to UA's policy on sex and gender-based discrimination
July 31, 2020
In response to new federal Title IX guidelines, the Board of Regents today approved significant revisions to Regents' policy, and I have signed the enabling regulations regarding sex and gender based discrimination. The changes detail new specific procedures that all universities must follow in cases of sexual harassment and assault on campuses in accordance with the new federal rule, and become effective August 14, 2020.

As stated in the Board of Regents meetings and Dr. Johnsen's June 16, 2020, memo to the UA Summit Team regarding the Digital Transformation Readiness Assessment, a $100,000 investment will identify and investigate opportunities afforded by modern cloud-based approaches. The resulting assessment will serve as a roadmap for engaging students across the lifecycle, and for holistically monitoring and improving UA's key performance indicators.

UAF recognized as top school by Times Higher Education

The University of Alaska Fairbanks is the top U.S. university in Times Higher Education's 2020 Impact Rankings for quality education. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings measure universities around the world against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The Impact Rankings for quality education consider metrics such as a university's "contribution to early years and lifelong learning, their pedagogy research and their commitment to inclusive education."

UA Board of Regents names Pat Pitney as university's interim president

The University of Alaska Board of Regents announced today that it has selected Pat Pitney to serve as the university's interim president. Pitney will take over from Acting President Michelle Rizk on Aug.1.

Board of Regents name five finalists for interim UA president

The University of Alaska Board of Regents has named five finalists for the interim president of the University of Alaska System. Over the next few days, regents will interview all five candidates and make a final decision on July 14.
