Event: Showcase
Educators Rising Alaska held its annual State Leadership Conference in Juneau this year, and the entire supporting office of K-12 Outreach went to help with this event.
On Saturday, March 9th, K-12 Outreach hosted a Showcase event, or open house, to display our programs to the public. This event was held in the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall, 320 West Willoughby Avenue, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
We held this event to celebrate and elevate the education profession in Alaska, share your priorities, educate the public about our organization, and enjoy some light snacks together. We had roughly 60 students, many educators, administrators, and community members who shared their stories and work, and it was attended by a number of Legislators and Administration staff.
It began with a brief welcome from University of Alaska President Johnsen, user stories from our four programs (Educators Rising Alaska, Alaska Teacher Placement, Alaska Statewide Mentor Project and Place-Based Curriculum), and time for attendees to share experiences, ideas, and engage in dialogue. Our speakers included Lisa Paraday, Executive Director ACSA/ASA/AASSP, Weston Elles,UA Government Relations Coordinator, Educator and Adviser Christel Mozalevskiy and Politician/Native Alaskan Activist/Businessman/Professor Willie Hensley.
