Public Lecture: Leadership, Traditionalism and Transformation

Professor Ron Heifetz, founder of the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School and globally recognized author, will present a public lecture in Anchorage Thursday June 29, on leadership in times of change including the role of the university in convening public discussions to identify the essential and precious, the negotiable and expendable and how a community can generate the space for the innovation needed to bring the best of history and tradition into the future. Heifetz will talk about how leaders can adapt to and facilitate change and what that transformation might look like. The lecture will be held at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center. Find more information on the Facebook event.

The event will also feature a book signing of the new edition of Ron Heifetz and Marty Linsky's bestselling "Leadership on the Line," which will be released in July. The book will be available to purchase at the event.

Personal holiday leave

All non-represented employees will have a personal holiday leave available for FY18 beginning July 11. By this date, all applicable employee classes will have a PHL leave category designated in UAOnline and a PHL leave earnings code available for their time sheet.

Changes to Annual and Sick Leave Accrual Tracking Dates

All employees accessing their sick and annual leave balances via uaOnline will see a change in starting balance and rollover dates after July 1. Beginning on that date, all leave accrual, usage and roll-over dates will be tied to the fiscal year. Previously the rollover date was in February. The current “available balance” will become the new “starting balance” at that time. No leave will be lost in this transition.

Sign up for Electronic Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for convenience, security and savings!

You can sign up to receive your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from Premera electronically, reducing mail and paper clutter. You can view your EOBs whenever you want, and print only what you need. Just log in to Premera.com, click Manage My Account under Member Services, and select “Go Paperless” from the menu. Click “Yes, I want my EOB notifications e-mailed” and enter the e-mail address you want to use. Make sure your Secure Email Notifications settings are ON (select Secure Inbox under Manage My Account.) You can change your settings at any time.

One more reason to sign up? If 40% of UA Choice members sign up for electronic EOB, the university can save another $1 per employee per month on our administrative fees. This could save the plan almost $50,000 over 12 months.

To sign up for paperless EOB statements, you must be enrolled on the plan, a spouse, FIP or dependent age 18 or older of a plan subscriber (employee). If you are the enrolled employee, you’ll have access to your dependents’ EOBs if they are younger than 18.
