FY17 Benefit Plan Information

Your first deductions for the FY17 benefit plan year will be listed on your July 8 pay stub, but don't wait until then to make sure all of your deductions are set up correctly.

If you changed plans, elected a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or the Health Savings Account (HSA), or elected or changed your Supplemental Life Insurance or Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), you can verify those elections in UAOnline now.

Log in to UAOnline at https://uaonline.alaska.edu, select “Employee Services,” and then “Benefits and Deductions.” Look for the Active deductions with the most recent "as of date." (Note: The HSA deductions are found under the "Flex Spending Accounts" link, and the Supplemental Life/AD&D insurance deductions are found under "Miscellaneous.")

If any of your deductions look incorrect, please notify your campus HR office as soon as possible. The sooner we find out about a problem, the sooner we can get it fixed!

Some things to consider when reviewing your deductions....

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is only available if you are covered under the Consumer-Directed Health Plan (CDHP); the 750 and HDHP plans do not qualify. If you elected an HSA but opted for the 750 or HDHP plan, then an HSA deduction was not set up for you.

A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for Health Care (medical) is available under all three health plans. If you elected an HSA under the CDHP plan, however, you cannot have a concurrent medical FSA per IRS regulation. An FSA for Dependent Care (child care) is allowable under all three of the health plan options, even if you elected an HSA.

We have a new FSA vendor, ASIFlex, for the FY17 plan year. As of 7/1/16, ASIFlex will handle claims for health care and dependent care FSAs. A new feature we’re offering is a debit card for the health care FSA. Go to asiflex.com/debitcards for more information and fill out the FSA debit card application to apply for a card (third link under “Related Links.” Claims from the FY16 plan year (7/1/15-6/30/16) must be sent to WageWorks, our previous FSA vendor. You will have until 9/30/16 to submit any remaining FY16 claims to WageWorks.

We also have a new life insurance carrier starting July 1. Securian will be our new life insurance company, and you may have noticed that rates for supplemental life insurance decreased slightly. If you elected more than $200,000 of supplemental life insurance at open enrollment, but only see $200,000 of benefit, your Evidence of Insurability (EOI) might still be pending with Securian. If you sent the form to The Standard, please contact your HR office immediately because The Standard will no longer be our carrier after June 30. We can redirect your form to Securian for you.
