Steve Lauzier oversees planning and operations for various real property assets of the University of Alaska including real estate, timber, minerals and related economic development opportunities to improve UA resources and revenue opportunities.

Lauzier has a braod range of experience in the field. At the University of Missouri he was Statewide Director of University Research Parks, tasked to improve the economic development activities and opportunities for university researchers, students, as well as community workforce, and develop university real estate assets for these purposes. In addition he was Statewide Director of Business Services, tasked to manage the real estate transactions of the four campuses with heavy emphasis on office space leasing, ground leases for public private partnerships, real estate sales and acquisitions, and cell tower leasing.

At Cornell University, Lauzier was Director of Real Estate, tasked to manage the real estate transactions of the university including leasing, sales and acquisitions, and lead the real estate development for the University Research Park and extension locations.

At Cal Poly Pomona Foundation he was Director of Real Estate Development, tasked with the start-up of a new University Research Park, and the start-up of an affordable housing program for faculty and staff. Lauzier was recognized by the Association of University Real Estate Officials in 2006 as its MVP for work done in affordable housing. The Innovation Village Research Park was recognized in 2014 by Association of University Real Estate Officials as the Best Project of the Year.

Steve Lauzier was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in the L.A. and Orange Coast area. He arrived in Anchorage Nov. 15, 2015. He has visited family members here previously.

Lauzier studied at Cal State Long Beach and Regis University, University of California, earning a bachelor's in Business Administration. He's taken numerous class in business, real estate, and MBA coursework. He received certificates in real estate marketing and construction from University of California, and real estate development from Harvard Graduate School of Design. He earned a certificate in Leadership at Cornell University.

Lauzier was a teenage surfer, in music for many years, and for short period played in a band with Karen and Richard Carpenter.� He is married, and has a son active as an actor, screenwriter, and director of movies. He breeds and raises purebred Arabian horses. He loves snow skiing and, when possible, getting into the water and surfing.

OIT Network Operations Welcomes New Network Communication Specialist

Jeff Whiteside works to maintain critical network communications infrastructure and is a subject matter expert for our Cisco voice communication system.

He was the Senior Network Engineer for the largest Cisco reseller in Montana and has been a network engineer for more than 16 years through various vendors across the Pacific Northwest.

He grew up in Portland, Oregon and spent the most recent eight years in Missoula, Montana. He moved to Alaska in September, 2015, coming here for the adventure!

Most of his training has occured on the job over the last 20+ years, but he has attended dozens of professional Cisco trainings along with many other subject-focused training sessions.

He currently holds Cisco Certified Network Associate and Professional certificates in both voice and routing/switching. He also maintains Cisco Collaboration, Unity Connection and Unified Contact Center Field Engineering certificates along with several other minor certifications.

Whiteside is an avid home brewer and woodworker with a love for the outdoors. He loves to cook, listen to a wide range of music and pursue constant learning in both his professional and personal life. He moved to Alaska with his girlfriend, Kayde Kaiser, and purrfect fuzzy cat.

Ashok Roy and Erik Seastedt Resign

UA President Jim Johnsen announced to statewide staff Nov. 9 that�Ashok Roy, chief financial officer, and Erik Seastadt, chief human resources officer, have resigned.

Controller Myron Dosch will serve as interim CFO. Ardith Lynch, associate general counsel, will serve as interim CHRO while recruitments take place.
