Alaska Statewide Mentor Project offering online courses for Alaska educators
The Alaska Statewide Mentor Project, a successful research-based mentoring program administered through K-12 Outreach, is once again offering University of Alaska distance-delivered coursework to teachers across the state. The engaging online classes, F593P: Mentored Early Career Teaching I or II, or AK Teaching III (for all educators), have been very well received by past participants. The UAF School of Education approved delivery again for the 2015-16 year.
Participants can choose four or five workshop forums from a menu of eight high-interest issues common to all Alaska educators. (Listed below) Highly qualified teacher-mentors, with expertise in each of the topics, facilitate the interactive 3-credit courses. More than 70 teachers participated last year, and provided feedback that they want more of this type of distance-delivered, by topic, coursework.
All educators, whether in their first year or fifteenth, are invited to join UA for a year of learning together ways to best serve Alaska’s students. Please share this with any teachers that may be interested.
