Fairbanks Youth Orchestra is looking for host families in June

Do you have a young musician in your family? Are you interested in supporting a great local organization, or learning more about musical opportunities for your child? The Fairbanks Youth Orchestra (FYO) is looking for host families June 21-24 to house approximately 70 young musicians from the Young People's Orchestra in California. This orchestra will perform jointly with the Fairbanks Youth Orchestras at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the UAF Davis Concert Hall. For more information about how you can help host a young visiting musician or two, please call Kate Ripley at 450-8102.

Fairbanks Youth Orchestras (FYO) is a non-profit organization under the auspices of the Fairbanks Symphony Association. Three youth ensembles make up FYO, including the String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and Youth Symphony. The next FYO concert will be at 4 p.m. May 16 at Davis Concert Hall. Please save your Box Tops over the summer! If you don't already have a school to donate them to, please bring them to Kim in 103. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please come over and I'll show you an example. Each Box Top is worth $0.10 for schools to buy computers, playground equipment, art supplies, etc. Box Tops are on a myriad of products: cereal, tissue, binders, refrigerated biscuits, and LOTS more. It's easy to support our local kids and schools!
