The Alaska School of Medicine leads the world in innovative approaches to health delivery in rural locations. Alaska, as a state, is expert in navigating complex rural issues and medicine is no exception. Students come from every continent to train at the School of Medicine, getting first-hand experience with the challenges, unique technologies, and processes for health care in rural communities. An additional aim of the Alaska School of Medicine is, through its Alaskan-born graduates, to staff each of Alaska's hospitals and healing centers with people born in the state.
