Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024

Cybersecurity may seem like a complex subject,  but ultimately, it’s really all about people! This is our focus this October - helping people make smart decisions whether on the job, at home, or at school - now and in the future.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024 focuses on four Key Behaviors:

Use Strong Passwords and a Password Manager

A strong password is unique, long, and memorable.

Turn On Multifactor Authentication

Multifactor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security - enable it wherever possible!

Recognize and Report Phishing

Ever got an email that is unexpected or seems too good to be true? It might be phishing!
Not sure? Forward it to ua-phishing@alaska.edu

Update Software

One of the easiest ways to protect your information is keeping your device software updated. The UA Security Matters team recommends enabling automatic updates wherever possible.

UA Security Matters encourages you to own your role in protecting your part of cyberspace! We're focusing on personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity.
