UA Administrative Reviews
Under the direction of Interim UA President Pat Pitney, administrative reviews occurred across the university system to analyze the roles and responsibilities of each executive/leadership position.
University of Alaska System Office
The review committee transmitted their report for the System Office Administrative Review to Interim President Pitney on May 21, 2021. Individual members of the leadership team met with the review committee co-chairs in June and early July to discuss the report’s content, and on July 12, Pitney met with most of the review committee. Of note, in those discussions, the committee acknowledged that all committee members’ positions were included rather than prioritizing a committee consensus report, thus in some cases there are differing positions on functions in the report. The administrative response on August 26, 2021 focuses on areas where system office leadership does not agree with the rationale presented in the review.
University of Alaska Anchorage
UAA’s review team issued its recommendations on April 9. In May, then-interim chancellor Bruce Schultz tasked chancellor’s cabinet members with providing written responses to sections relevant to their operations by July 23 as context for Chancellor Parnell’s response to the report. Chancellor Parnell shared his response on August 20. The review and response are posted online at UAA’s Administrative Program Review Page with copies to Faculty Alliance and Staff Alliance leadership.
University of Alaska Fairbanks
UAF’s review team issued its recommendations on March 29. The report is linked from a page on Chancellor White’s website under Initiatives and Policies > Planning. Chancellor White’s response to the review was sent to the UAF campus community on April 2, with subsequent communications on April 7 and April 22. These messages are also linked from the Chancellor’s communications page under Chancellor Memos and Messages.
University of Alaska Southeast
UAS’ review team issued its recommendations on April 2, and Chancellor Carey accepted the report as written. Both the UAS Administrative Review Report and Chancellor Carey’s response are linked from the UAS Provost website.
