Updates to travel and community restrictions

SUBJECT: Updates to travel and community restrictions
Since late last week, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has updated its travel guidance, as the situation with COVID-19 in the United States and worldwide has evolved. Due to those changes, I am updating our travel and community restrictions policy. Major changes include:
- Travel outside Alaska for university business is prohibited.
- University-related travel to rural Alaska communities is suspended. This decision was made in concert with the chancellors and those communities and is an effort to minimize the risk of COVID-19 spreading there.
- Anyone returning from travel outside Alaska will be required to stay home and self-observe for 14 days.
- Anyone returning from a CDC Level 3 location will be required to comply with mandatory CDC precautions before returning to work.
Additional details can be found in the travel and community restrictions policy document on the university’s coronavirus response website.
Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we navigate this changing situation together.
