UAF to launch Shine A Light speaker series to spotlight racial justice and equity

The Northwest Campus, in partnership with UAF’s Department of Equity and Compliance and the Nanook Diversity and Action Center, announces a new speaker series, Shine a Light: Promoting Conversation on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The sessions seek to encourage understanding, build empathy, and engage us all in thinking critically about our worldviews. Join us on the last Monday of every month for a new speaker and topic. This month, the series kicks off with former UAF Vice Chancellor Evon Peter.

Evon Peter most recently served as vice chancellor for rural, community and Native education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks from July 2014 to January 2021. His work has focused on incorporating Indigenous knowledge and practices into healing, leadership development and Alaska Native language programs.

“Uncivilized: A Context for Alaska Native Equity,” with Evon Peter

Monday, Jan. 25, 6:30 p.m.
