Save the date: State of the University Address

University of Alaska President Jim Johnsen will present his annual State of the University Address Friday, February 28, 2020. The SOU address will take place during the 6th Annual AlaskaCAN! Educational Equity Conference luncheon at the Marriott Anchorage Downtown hotel

Representatives from Alaska agencies, schools, businesses and institutions will meet for the annual AlaskaCAN! conference, hosted by the Alaska Postsecondary Access & Completion Network, as they collaborate on ways to effectively work to achieve the goal of 65 percent of working-age Alaskans having a postsecondary degree or credential by 2025. Focused action to improve postsecondary access and completion is critical to achieving this goal. Tickets for just the State of the University luncheon keynote are available through the Eventbrite page for $40 per individual.

While most will not be able to attend in person, all members of the university community are encouraged to tune into the livestream of the address. Join a live viewing party on your campus, or hold your own with classmates or co-workers. Additional details on public viewing parties will be shared by each university.

The livestream link will be available at http://www.alaska.edu/pres/sou so it can be viewed from anywhere in Alaska. Following the event, transcript and recorded video will be available on that same page.

These are important and challenging times for the university, so please plan to attend or watch the livestream of the speech.
