Garrett Term as Student Regent Ends, Nominations Underway
Cachet Garrett’s term as student regent has come to an end. The Alaska Legislature failed to confirm her appointment or any of the governor’s appointments before it adjourned last spring, but it extended the date that unconfirmed appointees could serve to December 15. When the legislature failed to reconvene to confirm appointees, Governor Dunleavy notified Student Regent Garrett by letter that her term had ended and thanked her for her service.
Students will continue to have a voice on the Board of Regents through public comment and the Coalition of Student Leaders representative until the governor appoints the next student regent.
