Update on UA restructuring planning process
August 26, 2019
In today’s video update President Johnsen discusses the planning process underway in response to the direction passed by the Board of Regents on July 30. President Johnsen outlines the steps being taken toward an inclusive planning process, which includes:
- The academic planning sessions attended by more than 200 people from around the system
held last week.
- Work underway to reduce administrative cost and move funds from administration to
invest them into academic programs and student services.
- The meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28 of the Board of Regents Subcommittee on Restructuring
the University of Alaska. The subcommittee will review an interim report on this process.
- The meeting on September 12-13 of the Board of Regents, where President Johnsen will propose a strategic approach for academic planning and a request to move forward with systemwide academic program reviews that will include faculty, staff and community members.
The Board of Regents will review plans for academic program changes/approve direction at its meeting in November.
