Internal Audit Updates
Updates from the Statewide Office of Audit and Consulting Services
Annual Uniform Guidance Audit
UA’s external auditors, CliftonLarsonAllen, were busy throughout September with completion
of fieldwork for the annual financial audit and the annual Uniform Guidance audit.
The Uniform Guidance audit is also known as the compliance audit and, formerly, as
the A-133 Single audit. Under contract, the Audit and Consulting Services assists
CLA with performing controls testing. Results from previous year audits are located
on the Statewide Fund Accounting website. Information about the FY20 audits will
be communicated this month.
Association of College and University Auditors AuditCon Virtual Edition conference
Internal auditors must attend a considerable amount of training to remain up to date
on accounting standards, best practices, and compliance requirements for the many
different aspects of the university. The Association of College and University Auditors
(ACUA) hosts two conferences and 8-14 webinars each year to make sure internal auditors
in higher education have plenty of opportunities to attend training on a wide array
of relevant topics. ACUA held the AuditCon Virtual Edition conference in mid-September.
A&CS auditors attended sessions that included: export controls, visitors on campus,
diversity and inclusion, robotics in finance functions, campus cyber and compliance
culture, intellectual property processes, Clery Act, fraud, admissions, and cybersecurity.
Congratulations to Niki Countryman!
