UA, United Adjuncts Ratify New Collective Bargaining Agreement

March 21, 2025

The News: UA and United Academics-Adjuncts (UNAD) have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement. On Friday, the Board of Regents unanimously approved the tentative CBA a few moments after being advised that UNAD members had also ratified the contract. The university and UNAD reached a tentative agreement for a comprehensive CBA on February 28.

The Details: The new CBA begins July 1, 2025, and includes minor nonmonetary changes as well as economic terms that mirror the recently ratified contract between the University and United Academics (UNAC).

  • Nonmonetary changes include clean up of language throughout the contract and a shift in responsibility for managing voluntary membership dues from the university to the union.
  • Compensation changes are the same as those in the UNAC contract: increasing salaries 2.75% in FY26, 3% in FY27, and 3.25% in FY28.

Catch Up Quick: UA and UNAD began negotiations on a new contract this semester, and were able to reach tentative agreement in less than 60 days, a major accomplishment.

  • The new contract succeeds UNAD’s current contract, which expires at the end of FY25 (June 30, 2025).

What’s Next: The ratified contract will be forwarded to the Alaska Department of Administration for review and submitted to the legislature for funding.
