Compliance Onboarding Video

Do you remember the moment you first stepped into the lab, classroom, office, or logged into your first online meeting? Those initial days as a new university employee, when people are shaping their perceptions of university work life, meeting their supervisor and colleagues, and settling into the new work space, is the key time for us to emphasize our commitment to compliance.

Supervisors assume a pivotal role in this process, as they champion compliance in their daily university responsibilities and assist their team members in understanding their obligations. Leaders demonstrate through their words and actions the significance of compliance with laws, Board of Regents policy, university regulation, and procedures right from the beginning.

It is crucial that employees realize this responsibility early. A misstep during onboarding doesn't solely affect the hiring process; it can introduce unnecessary risks throughout the employee’s entire tenure. Non-compliance can lead to safety risks, legal consequences for the university, reputational damage, financial losses, and disruptions in both operations and academics.

In this month’s quick 4-minute Compliance Chat video Mary Gower, Senior Institutional Compliance Liaison, provides compliance onboarding highlights for new hires. Also explore this useful compliance resource that includes information for managers, directors and executive leadership.
