Dr. Dennis Humphrey appointed interim director of Prince William Sound College
Through a search committee process, Dennis Humphrey, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as the interim director of Prince William Sound College (PWSC), beginning July 17, 2022.
For the past five years, Humphrey has been an associate professor of English at PWSC. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as the chair of the English and Fine Arts Division at Arkansas State University-Beebe. While serving as chair, his responsibilities included budget planning and management, overseeing over 40 faculty and adjuncts, managing curriculum development processes, as well as planning and managing course schedules.
In addition to Humphrey’s leadership experience in an academic environment, the search committee noted his knowledge of Valdez, PWSC and the community, his ability to network and build relationships, and his interest in providing a stable, certain path forward for the college.
Humphrey has a Ph.D. in English from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, a Master of Arts in English from the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Southern Arkansas University.
Humphrey’s appointment will run through the upcoming academic year, with a permanent director to be named late in the spring of 2023.
